So for me, its impossible to justify a $3500 guitar over a $2000 guitar on that basis. For 1600 you get a 4a top, chambered body, and roasted maple neck. Sometimes it's still going to catch and drop out of tune but that's non locking systems. I can tell the difference between a USD$300 Strat and a USD$1500 Strat, but those differences generally wont make a difference to how well Ill be able to play on it, or how much Ill enjoy it (with the exception of whether I specifically hate the pickups on a cheap guitar, but I can do a full pickup replacement that will suit my taste for max of about $300 if I have to). Can we see a pic of your suhr you speak so highly of? At the first frets, the neck seems very thin. Suhr makes stellar products but their artist deals are nothing compared to what Ibanez or FMC will do for an artist. Let's take a look and see if this high-end custom shop guitar. IMO great instruments vs the similar suhrs/anderson builds they stack up well at a good price point. Now, I wouldnt buy a toaster unless it had a pull-out tray for dumping the crumbs, and not all of them do, but thats about the only dealbreaker I can think of, apart from it being literally defective.
It partly comes down to what a person values in a guitar. Fretwork isn't always great on a Prestige either but generally better than Premium, yes. Seconding Lars here, roasted maple doesnt need to be oiled. The quality of the actual materials used is pretty uniform from factory to factory. I love the inlays, some others don't.
